Chelsea are ready to step up their interest in Lazio winger Antonio Candreva.

Incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte has ordered his new club to start negotiations with Lazio before he takes over in July and has reportedly spoken to Candreva about joining him at Stamford Bridge.

According to Il Tempo, Lazio president Claudio Lotito will not budge unless his £25m asking price is met and Chelsea have yet to show any indications they will meet such a figure.

Candreva shone for Lazio last season, scoring 12 goals in 42 appearances from the flanks, and his displays earned rave reviews from scouts from clubs across Europe.

The 29-year-old is understood to be open to a switch to west London to work under Conte but could also be swayed if an offer comes in from a club who will play in the Champions League next season.
