Jose Mourinho sends message to Manchester United fans as he arrives for first day in charge

The Portuguese starts his new job as manager on Monday morning after arriving in Manchester on Sunday night

Jose Mourinho sent a brief message to Manchester United fans as he heads to Carrington to start his first day in his new job.

The Portuguese arrived at Manchester Piccadilly on Sunday night and gets started as Red Devils boss on Monday morning.

He will head to United's training complex at the start of what promises to be a busy week, report the Manchester Evening News.

The former Chelsea manager, wearing a polo with a sweater draped over his shoulders and carrying a suit, posted a video on his Instagram account of him disembarking a train from London Euston and succinctly said: "I am here/UNITED we can."

Mourinho has been on holiday in Portugal and the Maldives but returned to the UK last week, where he witnessed his son sign a two-year scholarship with Championship club Fulham.

...and will now start life as United

United fly out to China on July 19 before taking on Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai on the 22nd and Manchester City in Beijing on the 25th. Their final overseas friendly is in Gothenburg against Galatasaray on July 30.

The Reds then host Everton in Wayne Rooney's testimonial on August 3 and head down to London for the Community Shield against Leicester on August 7. United begin their Premier League campaign at Bournemouth, although the date and kick-off time are yet to be confirmed.
