Jose Mourinho has reportedly stated his interest in Antoine Griezmann and Manchester United are now interested in signing the Frenchman.
According to reports from ESPN FC, the Atletico Madrid no.7 is United’s prime target this summer.
Mourinho replaced Louis van Gaal at the end of last season and will be tasked to sparking life back into a laboured Red Devils squad
It appears the club have now identified Griezmann as antidote to their often lifeless displays but will have to battle with the rest of Europe for the attacker’s signature.
The 25 year-old would be perfect for Untied. He offers raw pace as well as a direct style of play which will fit the club’s attacking philosophy, something which seems to have been abandoned since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson
Griezmann is expected to shine for France in this summer’s European Championship after an impressive domestic season with Atletico.
The attacker scored 22 goals in 38 La Liga appearances this season, as they side finished third in the table.
However, it was his seven goals in the Champions League, helping Atletico to the final, which was the real highlight.
Any possible transfer looks to be on hold until the Spanish club sort out their managerial problems. After losing their second Champions League final in three years Diego Simeone hinted that his time as manager may be over.
