Fernando Torres thinks Diego Simeone is right to reflect on his future but the Atletico Madrid players want him to stay at the club.
The Argentinian boss cast doubt over his future at the Spanish club after their Champions League final defeat to local rivals Real Madrid on penalties.
He told reporters that he would have to "think" about his future as Atletico manager, but striker Torres thinks his manager should take the time to consider the options.
"We all want him to stay. We would love him to stay," the former Liverpool forward said. "But he is within his right to reflect. Everything else is hypothetical."
Torres still has to decide where he will be playing next season, as he is on loan at Atletico from AC Milan, whom he joined from Chelsea on a permanent deal in January 2015.
But the Spanish international has spent the last season and a half at his boyhood club and a permanent move back to Madrid looks to be on the cards.
"Right now, it is being finalised. Hopefully the small details that need to be resolved will happen soon," Torres added.
