The father and agent of David Alaba has admitted that he’s proud of the reported interest from European champions Real Madrid this summer.
According to AS, Bayern Munich rejected a bid of €50 million for the man Los Blancos see as an eventual successor to Marcelo
The German champions won’t look to do business unless the bid for the Austrian international is upwards of €80 million this summer.
But speaking to AS (via Goal), George – Alaba’s father – revealed that the interest wasn’t being viewed negatively within the defender’s camp, despite the rejected bid.
“We’re at a moment when we don’t need to make any comment. Madrid are a great club and I’m proud of the interest. That’s all I can say, nothing else.
Alaba has just secured a fifth Bundesliga title at the Allianz Arena, and signed a new contract until 2021 at the club in March. In the statement released to confirm the extension, Bayern expressed their delight at keeping hold of their youth product.
The 23-year-old scored one goal and averaged three defensive actions-per-game in the Bundesliga this term, winning 55% of his average duels and with an average pass accuracy of 92%
With incoming manager Carlo Ancelotti looking to build upon Pep Guardiola’s time in charge, he will want one of the best young players in the world to continue Bayern’s dominance of German football
