JOSE MOURINHO had a very unhappy return to Stamford Bridge as Manchester United manager.
The Chelsea players who performed so badly last season leading to his sacking came back to haunt him this year.
Only two of the Blues' starting eleven, Marcos Alonso and N'Golo Kante, had not played for Mourinho at Chelsea.
While Antonio Conte seems to have reinvigorated Chelsea with his 3-4-3 formation, United under Mourinho look reminiscent of Chelsea from last season, sluggish, lacking interest and not good enough in defence or attack.
Mourinho's nightmare started within 30 seconds.
Alonso's long pass was not dealt with properly by Chris Smalling, allowing Pedro through on goal to round David De Gea and finish easily into the back of the net.
Before long it was 2-0 to the home side.
Gary Cahill fired in a corner that bounced off Smalling and the Chelsea fans were loving it.
"Who are ya?" and "You're not special anymore" rang out at Stamford Bridge.
It could have easily been 3-0 before half time but first De Gea then Eric Bailly denied Diego Costa.
While Mourinho couldn't complain about the scoreline, he could complain about the Blues still having 10 men.

David Luiz could easily have got more than a yellow card for a high, studs-up challenge on Marouane Fellaini.
Man United came out with more purpose in the second half but Chelsea always looked dangerous on the counter.
And it was Eden Hazard, who failed to score in his final 27 appearances for Mourinho at Chelsea, who killed the game off.
He played it to Kante, who laid off Matic before the ball found its way back to the Belgium and he slotted past De Gea.
It was soon 4-0 when the impressive Kante turned past Smalling to fire low into the corner.
Only then did the Chelsea fans start singing Mourinho's name.
It wasn't the homecoming he would have wanted.
