– The Italian tactician wants to strengthen his defense following string of poor performances by some defenders The Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte has identified Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos as

a top target when the January transfer window opens, according to Spanish publication AS.

The Blues are still looking to strengthen their defence following injury worries to Terry and Zouma and a string of poor performances from the likes of Cahill and Ivanovic.

The Blues did see David Luiz return to Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window, but Antonio Conte remains in the market for defensive reinforcements.


Ramos is considered to be a top target for the Italian tactician, with the 30-year-old centre-half having been heavily linked with a Premier League switch for some time.

Since joining Real Madrid, Ramos has won three La Liga titles, two Copa Del Rey and two Champions League title.

He played with the Spanish national team in three World Cups and three European Championships, winning the former tournament in 2010 and the latter in 2008 and 2012.

 He also made his first appearance for his country at the age of 18 and in 2013, he became the youngest player to ever reach 100 caps.
