José Mourinho has promised Real Madrid flop James Rodríguez a ‘major role’ at Manchester United should he jump shop to the Premier League, according to reports.

The Colombian international has yet to start a game for Real Madrid this season with Zinedine Zidane limiting Rodríguez to only three substitute appearances totaling 47 minutes in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League combined.

The former-FC Porto and AS Monaco star has still managed to record two assists during his cameo appearances.

Manchester United are believed to be keen on bringing the playmaker to England over the summer, whilst Premier League rivals Chelsea are also being strongly linked to the 25-year-old.

Spanish website Don Balon are claiming that United are planning to make an offer next summer after failing to come to an agreement with Real Madrid in the last transfer window.

James Rodríguez was valued at £60 million ,slightly less than the £71 million the La Liga giants splashed out on the attacking midfielder after winning the Golden Boot at the 2014 World Cup.

Rodríguez still has four years left on his contract at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
