French players react on Instagram
A handful of French players have taken to Instagram to post their reactions to losing the Euro 2016 final to Portugal.
Paul Pogba, who had a pretty lousy game in the final as he was played in a defensive midfield role by Didier Deschamps, wrote the following message on the social network:
I am very sad for losing the finals and for the fans. We learn more from our defeats than from our victories and we go away with our heads high.
We fought all we could and we won the hearts of our supporters. My desire to win only grows stronger and I will continue to fight to improve every day and to make you all proud.
Moussa Sissoko & Blaise Matuidi
Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko has also written a long message on Instagram.
Interestingly, despite being linked with a move away from St James’ Park this summer, the midfielder publicly thanks the Magpies for all their support.
His long social media included the following statements:
The Euros ended yesterday evening, not as we’d hoped, and not as you all expected. We felt your incredible support, and I wanted to take the time to thank you all.
To my Newcastle club that allowed me to progress and discover the English league. And their extraordinary fans who have always supported me. I say thank you to all.
PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi has also written a lengthy message.
He thanked the French public for all their support in the Euros saying:
You have made us proud to wear that blue jersey and hopefully very soon, together, we will resume the road to victory.
