Cristiano Ronaldo out 6-8 weeks with knee injury

Cristiano Ronaldo kisses the Euro 2016 trophy.

The most famous player in Portugal’s history might miss nearly two months for Real Madrid

In the first several minutes of the Euro 2016 finals, Cristiano Ronaldo was injured. No, he wasn’t flopping, he was actually injured. Ronaldo attempted to play on and was noticeably limping before being taken out of the game at around the 20 minute mark.
Portugal went on to defeat France in the Euro 2016 finals, 1-0. The win was the first major championship ever for Portugal, and by proxy, Ronaldo’s first international victory.

Those who still thought Ronaldo was faking will have to eat a little crow. According to a report from AS, Ronaldo will miss around 6-8 weeks with a minor knee sprain. This will definitely put the near future with Real Madrid in jeopardy, and might culminate in Ronaldo missing the UEFA Super Cup.
It’s definitely likely that even if healthy, Ronaldo will be held out of the UEFA Super Cup, as it’s a fun little tournament before the real season starts, but it’s of no consequence. If he misses the worst amount of time expected, 8 weeks, he will likely miss the start of Real Madrid’s regular season.

Ronaldo was selected to the Euro 2016 “Team of the Tournament”. It’s his third appearance on the team. Ronaldo had a strong tournament, but the Portugese had goalkeeper Rui Patricio to thank for the victory. He blocked 7 French shots on goal, and had one skitter off the post. The Portugese team didn’t have Ronaldo on the field for the Final, but would have likely won without him.
