Juan Mata to Everton
Jose Mourinho can be ruthless.
Having already sold Juan Mata once in his management career when he shipped the Spaniard out of Chelsea to Manchester United, it’s feeling abundantly clear that the Special One has no intention of working with Mata again at Old Trafford.
Rumours sprung up in the past few days that Mata could be on his way out of United to join Everton, and on Sunday those rumours stepped up a notch.
Flora Moussy, a journalist for French news outlet Infosport+, has reported that Mata is leaving Man United to join the Toffees in a €25 million deal.
She also noted how Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be wearing the number 8 shirt at United next year, which was previously Mata’s number
The additional arrival of Henrikh Mkhitaryan further clogs up Mata’s chances of making the first team for Mourinho next term.
Mata & Man United
Mata may not have won the titles he craved a Man United, but, if he departs, fans will surely remember him fondly.
He scored 10 goals in each of his last two campaigns and got six in his first at the club. Moreover, he scored that amazing scissors-kick away at Liverpool to silence the Scousers.
