Transfer gossip column: Real Madrid set £50m price tag on Morata, Man Utd eye Matic

Real Madrid have told Chelsea and Arsenal that they will have to pay £50 million to land Spain international Alvaro Morata. The 23-year-old rejoined Los Blancos recently after they decided to exercise their buy-back option from Juventus, but are open to making a profit on the €30 million deal and will offload him if their hefty price-tag is met. Morata had a 64% shot accuracy at Euro 2016.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is planning to use two different teams next season – one for the Premier League and one for the Europa League. The latter clearly isn’t the 53-year-old’s priority, so he’s planning to have an ‘A team’ and ‘B team’ in order to ensure his side can challenge domestically. (Daily Star)

Everton will outbid Chelsea by offering €45 million for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly. The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with the Blues, but Everton now have strong backing from majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, and are considering out-bidding Antonio Conte’s side for the Senegal international. Koulibaly won 81/147 headers in Serie A last season. (Calciomercato, via Football Italia)

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho could move for Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic, should a deal for Paul Pogba not materialise. Matic was signed by Mourinho during the latter’s time in charge of Chelsea, and would only cost around £17 million, which is significantly less than the reported £100 million for Pogba’s services. Matic won 63/142 tackles in the Premier League last season. (Daily Star)
Liverpool are looking to recoup the £15 million they spent on Joe Allen back in 2012. The 26-year-old is heavily tipped to leave Anfield this summer, but the Reds aren’t prepared to sell the Wales midfielder on the cheap and want to get every penny back that they spent four years ago. Allen had an 85% pass accuracy at Euro 2016. (Liverpool Echo)

Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford has agreed a deal worth £2 million with Nike. The 18-year-old enjoyed a whirlwind season after breaking into the United and England team, and will now get a five-year contract worth £400,000-per-year with Nike in order to keep him away from rivals, who are offering boot and clothes deals. (The Sun)
Manchester United will pay Paul Pogba a reported salary of €13.5 million (£11.5m) a year if they agree a transfer fee. The Juventus midfielder is heavily tipped to join the Red Devils this summer, and Jose Mourinho is prepared to spend big on wages in order to convince the 23-year-old to return to Old Trafford. Pogba created 11 chances at Euro 2016. (AS)

Tottenham Hotspur officials reportedly met with Germany star Mario Gotze‘s father twice during the European Championships to discuss a potential move. The 24-year-old, who’s been heavily linked with Liverpool, also reportedly told his Germany teammates that a decision on his future will be announced soon. Gotze created six chances at Euro 2016.
