Manchester United are reportedly favorites to sign their former defender Gerard Pique, according to Ladbrokes.
The Telegraph has reported that the odds of the Barcelona defender returning to Old Trafford this summer have been slashed in half from 16/1 to 8/1.
Pique famously left for the Spanish giants in 2008 but with the recent news of the odds in United’s favor, he could be the latest player to be a part of the Jose Mourinho era in Manchester.
The 29-year-old defender spent four years at United, winning the Premier League and Champions League in 2008 but the young Spaniard found himself behind the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.
Mourinho and United certainly like the current odds of the defender returning but league rivals Manchester City and French giants Paris Saint-Germain are not far behind, according to the bookies.
While at Barcelona, Pique has gone on to partner with Carles Puyol and Javier Mascherano to win six La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies during his eight-year spell at the Camp Nou.
If Pique would like to challenge himself in a new league, Manchester would be a great landing spot for the defender. He would instantly upgrade the defence and his partnership with Chris Smalling would form one of the better defences in the Premier League
