Morata set to replace injured CR7 in 2016 UEFA Super Cup

Morata set to replace Ronaldo in UEFA Super Cup

Real Madrid will go head-to-head with Europa League holders Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup clash on August 9.
Los Blancos will have to face Sevilla without their star man Cristiano Ronaldo due to a knee injury. However, former Juventus striker Alvaro Morata, who has returned to Real Madrid after his loan expired with the Italians, is set to replace the Portuguese ace in this anticipated clash. The Spanish international will be taking this early opportunity to make a statement in hopes of gaining a regular starting position under coach Zinedine Zidane.
Despite his national team's disappointing campaign at Euro 2016, the 23-year-old performed brilliantly for La Roja. Morata appeared in all of Spain's four matches and netted three goals in the process.

In his 2015/2016 season with Italian side Juventus, Morata also displayed impressive performances, as he carried his club to their fifth Serie A title. The Madridista made 34 appearances, scoring seven goals and generating seven assists for the Zebre.
Regardless of his strong form in front of goal, Los Blancos will still heavily miss superstar Ronaldo in the line-up. The three-time Ballon d'Or winner suffered a knee injury in the Euro 2016 final against France, and AS reports the Portugal international will be out for at least a month. Real Madrid's number seven has been diagnosed with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee and his recovery process could take up to eight weeks.
Ronaldo is now enjoying his post-Euros holiday with his family and is scheduled to return to his Spanish club on August 1 for pre-season training.
