Marcelo Bielsa is looking to secure Alexandre Pato in attack for his debut season on the Biancocelesti bench

A return to Serie A could come sooner than expected for former AC Milan wonderkid Alexandre Pato, as the Brazilian was named a top summer transfer target for Lazio.

Incoming coach Marcelo Bielsa and sporting director Igli Tare have a shared confidence in helping the 26-year-old find a revival on the peninsula once again, as consistent injury woes have blighted the striker’s career up to a recent loan at Chelsea.

Lazio President Claudio Lotito has assisted the operation by recently meeting with Pato’s agent Gilmar Veloz, and the anticipated departure of Antonio Candreva could make the player a first of many purchase

Ongoing negotiations have revealed the possibility of a three-year deal worth €1.8 million in bonuses per season for “The Duck”.

There is little doubt that a €2m offer will soon be accepted by parent club Corinthians, with Bielsa and Lazio also waiting to confirm the arrival of West Ham United’s Enner Valencia.

Pato featured twice for Chelsea in April and scored once during his debut in a 4-0 victory over Aston Villa before falling to a 1-0 loss against Swansea in the following match.
