Cristiano Ronaldo says Portugal were in 'dire straights'

Cristiano Ronaldo helped Portugal qualify.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice for Portugal last night, helping his team to qualify for the last 16 and breaking a record in the process. Surely this was his time to talk to the world's media.
But, in the aftermath of the 3-3 draw against Hungary, a defiant 31-year-old gave journalists the cold shoulder and refused to answer any questions.
Despite Ronaldo's two goals, Portugal still failed to win their third and final group game, meaning they go into their last 16 without a win on their backs.
Portugal were forced to come from a goal down three times to ensure they made it out of Group F and snuck through as one of the final third-placed teams.
The Real Madrid star, whose goals were certainly what one would call world-class, released an official statement to compensate for his lack of presence in the mixed zone. In that statement, he said he was simply happy to qualify after claiming the team were in "dire straights".
