Fans of Real Madrid and particularly Cristiano Ronaldo have a new reason to smile following the superstars latest revelation.
Cristiano
Ronaldo has dismissed fears that he could be unavailable for selection
in the UEFA Champions League final against rivals Atletico Madrid. The
31-year-old picked up a thigh injury during the club’s training session
on Tuesday. However, despite limping off the pitch flanked by the team’s
medics, the former Man United man still believes he will be available
for the much-anticipated clash in Milan against Diego Simeone’s men on
May 28.During the training session, he collided with team mate Kiko Casilla after being pushed by Dani Carvajal. Several media outlets in Spain had reported that the superstar could miss the crucial clash, but he was quick to refute the claims.
Speaking to journalists after the training session, he said:
"It (the injury) was a minor scare, a knock, but in a few days I will be well."
If he passes the fitness test before Saturday’s clash, Ronaldo will be hoping to break his own record of 17 UCL goals that he set two seasons ago. He now has 16 goals to his name this season in the Champions League, and need one more to equal the record or two to set a new one. This match will also offer coach Zinedine Zidane an opportunity to win his first official trophy as Real Madrid manager since Rafael Benitez’s departure in January.
