Premier League champions unveil home and away kits for2016/2017 season.
Leicester City was crowned as the Premier League champions for 2015/2016 season, which was a pure fairy tale in the footballing world with Claudio Ranieri's men achieving the feat with two games to spare. The next season will not start until in August, later this year, yet the Foxes have launched the kits in which they will make their title defence. Th Foxes unveiled the home kit earlier in May while the away kit was announced much later.
The unlikely title win for the Foxes ensures that the kit will feature a redesigned Premier League winner’s logo on the sleeves.
Leicester City’s primary kit sponsor Puma will continue for another year and has not changed the home kit much. However, the away kit goes a complete design overhaul, meaning we will no longer see a diamond-shape graphic pattern. Let us take a closer look at the 2016/2017 jerseys.
Leicester City 2016/2017 Home Kit:
The home kit will still feature the traditional blue colour with gold decals. While the shirt and shorts come in blue, the goalkeeper’s kit comes in classic black colour. King Power branding headlines the shirt while the torso and the sleeves house the gold coloured Puma branding. Blue shorts and blue socks complete the iconic home kit.
Puma has introduced textured stripes to the design, which add subtle levels of delicacy. With the stylised collar, the new kit displays a bold design that should turn heads while on the pitch.
The home kit was debuted in the home game against Everton during the penultimate game of the season. It was available for instore purchase from that day itself, while the online sale started a little later on 25 May 2016.
Leicester City 2016/2017 Away Kit:
Leicester City teased the away kit for a couple of days before finally presenting it on 30 May 2016. This kit features a striking red colour, which was last used for Leicester City’s third kit for the 2014/2015 season. Similar to the home kit, we see Puma branding on the torso and the sleeves, but in white.
A darker shade is on the upper half of the kit and it slowly fades generating a bright red colour to complete this exciting kit. Red shorts and red socks wrap up the Foxes’ away kit. The graphic design is much like Austria’s Euro 2016 kit.
Trivia: This is the first time that Leicester City has an away kit with red as the primary colour.
Leicester City captain Wes Morgan said, “The kit looks fantastic - it’s a great design that I’m sure the fans will love. When you're on the way to an away game and you see the fans out in force, decked out in their colours, it’s a brilliant feeling. It always feels like we’re in it together.”
There is still no word on the third kit, though. If there is a third kit, we expect Leicester City to debut it during early August right at the start of Premier League
