Harry Kane: Tottenham players are delighted
that Pochettino is staying
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is delighted that Mauricio Pochettino is staying as manager at the club beyond this season after verbally agreeing to a new contract recently.
Pochettino only took over at White Hart Lane at the start of last season but already he’s building something special having taken the north Londoners into a title challenge up against Leicester City.
Unfortunately for Kane, Pochettino and co., their draw at Chelsea last night ensured that they would have to wait another year to try and win the Premier League title as Leicester City were crowned champions, sitting seven points clear with two games left to play.
But things are looking bright for Spurs’ future, especially after Pochettino announced he was to sign a new deal, and Kane has admitted that the players are all delighted he’s staying.
“I think [Pochettino’s new deal] is important; we want to build on this team,” Kane told reporters. “I think everyone can sense that we’ve got something special here – we can get better, we can learn, we can keep improving, and the manager’s a big part of that. We’re all delighted that he’s staying and it’s important now that we build on this season going into the next one.
“We congratulated him – it’s great news for the club, for all of us as well. We’ve got a great squad here, we’ve got a great manager, all things are heading in the right direction. We’ve just got to make sure we stick together, finish the season strongly now and then we look forward to getting even better next year.”

Pochettino’s achievements with Spurs in such a short space of time may well have piqued the interest of several big clubs around Europe, especially ones potentially looking for new management in the summer like Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, the Argentine is doing well with Tottenham and has an exciting, young squad to work with, and he’s not going anywhere just yet.
Kane will hope Pochettino can help him build on a superb season which sees him top of the scoring charts with 25 goals.
