Messi wants release clause

Lionel Messi wants a release clause in his next contract with Barcelona.
Even though the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner is not planning on leaving the club anytime soon, he still wants to make sure he can finish his career over in Argentina (when the time comes), without being shackled by Barcelona.
The Argentine’s contract renewal is one of Barcelona’s biggest priority subjects right now.
The new deal being discussed will be Messi’s eighth since he arrived at the club.
However, Messi has this time requested something he hasn’t included in any of his previous contracts; a release clause.

Newell’s Old Boys

According to Diario Gol (via AS), Messi has requested that Barcelona promise to allow him to leave for Newell’s Old Boys towards the end of his career.

This is not to say that the player will leave any time soon, however, it shows he does want to leave at some point in the future.
The Catalan star knows that he has quite a number of years left at the highest level and obviously wants to remain at Camp Nou during that period.
However, Messi’s wish is to retire at his boyhood club, Newell’s Old Boys, in Argentina.
For that reason, the player wants a release clause in order to make sure that his exit to the Rosario-based side will not be impeded by Barcelona when the day finally comes.
