Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho hit out at "football Einsteins" following his side's EFL Cup win over Northampton.
Goals from Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford secured a 3-1 victory for United at Sixfields.
It ended a run of three-straight defeats with Mourinho coming under criticism so early in his Old Trafford tenure, reports the Manchester Evening News.
"We had a bad week. I know that the world is full of football Einsteins," he told MUTV.
"I know that they tried to delete 16 years of my career, they tried to delete an unbelievable history of Manchester United Football Club and to focus on a bad week with three bad results.

We have three home matches now in a row and it is always good to be at home.
"I can understand clearly the disappointment. If the fans have been disappointed with the last week, I understand completely but I am sure they will be behind the team like they always are.
In a separate interview, Mourinho stated his unhappiness at Jak McCourt's tackle on Memphis. The Liverpudlian midfielder only received a yellow card but Mourinho insisted he deserved red.
"The game could and should have been easier because we should have been playing against 10 men very early in the second-half," Mourinho added.
"I think I should stop to speak about referees' decisions. And I think I should be waiting for you, some with honest vision, some with a dishonest vision. But I should just wait.
"A couple of minutes ago I told about the red card because it's a really dangerous situation. I'm not speaking about the penalty against Man City, I'm speaking about the situation that could have an important injury and, even in this kind of situation, I should stop and live with you, somehow that's dishonest."
