WE have yet to see the best of Paul Pogba; the menacing marauder who eats fellow midfielders and defenders alike for breakfast. At least, that’s what it said on the tin.
Manchester United’s world record signing has shone at times, twinkled at others but mainly disappeared into the wild blue yonder like a shooting star who’s lost his way.
The player United let go for a pittance and bought back for a fortune is still finding his feet in the Premier League but he has the unquestionable support of his manager.
Jose Mourinho, who himself is still settling into the role, reckons Pogba just has forget about the fact that he is an £89m player. Be yourself.
France midfielder Pogba has not scored or set up a goal in four games since his summer return to Old Trafford from Italian champions Juventus.
However, Mourinho the 23-year-old’s performances will improve when he becomes settled in the team and plays with freedom.
As quoted on the BBC Sport website – http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37389906 – Jose told the former Juventus man: “The world-record player is always a question, but I want Paul to forget that.
“He played in the Euro 2016 final, went on holiday, then had no pre-season. It is normal after the first game he has a little decrease.  I am full of trust because I know he is a good guy with a lot of ambition, so the form will come naturally.”
United have lost their past two matches against Manchester City in the Premier League and Feyenoord in the Europa League, and defeat at Watford on Sunday would mark the team’s worst run since December.
Mourinho added: “It is a new event, it is another match. It starts minute zero at 0-0 so I think it has nothing to do with the previous two matches.
“But obviously when you lose matches, the mood, the feeling, is not the same. That’s normal. But I think we are experienced players and the players are very good guys and I know they want to win and work, so that’s what we have to do.”
