Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits there is nothing stopping him “one day” managing England after 20 years at Arsenal.
Wenger is inside the final year of his Arsenal contract and has maintained that he will not break his contract at the club.
However, having already said he was flattered to again be linked with the England job following the departure of Allardyce, Wenger gave further indication he would consider a call from the Football Association.
Wenger, who handed out gifts to the media to celebrate his 20-year anniversary in charge of Arsenal, told his press conference: “My priority is to do well here. This has always been my club. If I am free one day, why not? But I am concentrated on my job.”
The Gunners are currently third in the top flight and having not secured the title since 2004, Wenger admitted he is still looking to improve after two decades at the club, revealing he has altered his approach in recent years.
“I have a passion for the game but I have the desire to be better tomorrow and yesterday,” he said. “The way I manage today is not the same today as five years ago. How long can I do, I don’t know. I rule nothing out because I want to work and do well. I accept as well that it can finish tomorrow. You expect a love story to last forever.
