Barcelona star Andres Iniesta is no stranger to breaking records, but there was a new one set on Wednesday night in the draw with Atletico Madrid.
The 32-year-old is regarded as one of Barcelona’s finest ever players and one of Europe’s best playmakers, which appears to be carrying on in his 15th season in the club’s first team.
The Spain international started in the 1-1 draw with Diego Simeone’s side on Wednesday night and set-up Ivan Rakitic for the opener, in turn making history.
It means that Iniesta’s assist for Rakitic’s goal in the draw makes him the only player to have made at least one assist in each of the last 14 La Liga seasons.
It is such a remarkable record for a player who has won it all – now adding this rather niche statistic to his fine collection book.
