RYAN GIGGS believes Manchester United have missed out on an exceptional talent in Renato Sanches.
Renato Sanches is currently starring for Portugal at Euro 2016
United were heavily linked with a move for Sanches earlier this year, with new boss Jose Mourinho targeting the teenager.
But a deal failed to materialise as United dithered, fearing it would have confirmed Louis van Gaal's sacking.
And the 18-year-old instead moved from Benfica to Bayern Munich for £35million last month.
The Portugal international showed his class in his country's Euro 2016 quarter-final win over Poland last night, scoring his sides equalising goal as well as scoring in the penalty shoot-out.\
And asked if Sanches was worth the £35m fee, Van Gaal's assistant Giggs told ITV: "100 per cent worth it.
"I saw a lot of his games last season. Six, nine months ago, he was on fire.
"Then his form dipped. But you’d expect that. He’s a kid with a lot of talent."
