West Ham United have sent a message to Dimitri Payet on Twitter following France’s loss in the final of Euro 2016.
The hosts were beaten in extra time of the tournament on Sunday evening as a goal from striker Eder secured the trophy for Portugal.
It was a superb strike from the former Swansea City man, and more than worthy of winning the tournament for his country after a final that had proved to be a tight affair between the two sides
While they celebrated, it was heartbreak for the hosts as they failed to win the tournament on home soil. Payet will have been particularly disappointed given the level of performance he has put in across the summer.
West Ham were keen to try to temper that though, by telling him they were proud of his performances
The Hammers will now be hoping that Payet can carry on his fine form from this summer into next season.
He has announced himself as a top star in France, and West Ham will need him at his best if they are to challenge for a European place or more.
