Bayern Munich launch new away kit as Philipp Lahm and Arjen Robben wear strip during training

Fans of the strip can buy a replica version of it for £64.95 

Bayern Munich's pre-season preparations took a twist on Thursday as they gave fans a glimpse into the upcoming campaign.

As Carlo Ancelotti put the German giants through their paces at their Sabener Strasse base, those noticing would have seen a different look to his stars.

And that's because the likes of Philipp Lahm and his team-mates were wearing the club's new away kit for the 2016-17 term.

The shirt, designed by adidas, sees the Bavarian outfit return to a dark away kit after several seasons of predominately white away strips.

The three-tone jersey's has been officially described as granite, solid grey and black by the sportwear manufactuers.

The triple-toned front features a sash design with red trim provided on top of the shoulders - where the adidas' stripes are located. The ribbed V-neck collar and bottom of the sleeves include a black trim.

Bayern's away shirt at the back is of a charcoal colour and has 'Bayern Munchen' printed across the shoulders in red with 'Mia San Mia' – the club's motto, which means 'we are who we are' – stitched into the collar too.

Ancelotti's side will wear for the first time in Saturday's friendly against Lippstadt 08 and fans of the strip can buy a replica version of it for £64.95.

Ancelotti has plenty of explaining ahead as Holger Badstuber and the Bayern squad get used to his methods

'Its climacool design features mesh inserts for targeted ventilation. It includes a club badge on the chest and "Bayern Munchen" is printed across the back.'

Speaking about the new shirt, Bayern captain Lahm said: 'It's very, very classy,' adding it's 'very lightweight.'

Meanwhile Holger Badstuber was equally as impressed, adding: 'They [adidas] keep improving the details.'
