Sir Alex Ferguson: Why Jose Mourinho shouldn't have gone back to Chelsea

SIR ALEX FERGUSON has revealed Jose Mourinho made a mistake returning to Chelsea.

The Portuguese tactician was formally unveiled in front of the media as Manchester United's new manager earlier today.

After a bruising start to the last Premier League campaign, Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea in December.

Although the previous season had ended in title success, Mourinho's second spell in charge of the Blues was short-lived.

The west London outfit saw their title hopes quickly ebb away and they ended up finishing 10th in the table under Mourinho's successor Guus Hiddink.

And when asked about Mourinho's Chelsea experience and what he expects to see from Louis van Gaal's successor next term, Ferguson told Sky Sports: "I think there'll be a massive improvement.

"I think Jose was wrong to go back to Chelsea. It's always difficult when you go back somewhere for a second time.

He's won the European Cup twice with different clubs and won titles with all the clubs he's been at. 

"You can't ignore his record and I think Manchester United is the right kind of club for him."
