Ryan Giggs to leave Manchester United

Giggs has been Van Gaal's assistant for two years

While there has been plenty of talk about who will be arriving at Manchester United after the appointment of Jose Mourinho, there will also be one notable departure.
It’s still unclear which players the Special One will look to offload this summer but one man that will be leaving Old Trafford is Ryan Giggs. According to the Daily Mail, the Welshman has rejected the chance to become a coach at the Theatre of Dreams and will, therefore, end his 29-year association with the club.
The report is supported by Manchester Evening News who claim that Giggs could announce his departure tonight whilst making his punditry debut for ITV. Giggs will be in the studio for tonight’s clash between Poland and Portugal and will no doubt be asked about his future by presenter Mark Pougatch.
Giggs’ contract as assistant manager expires at midnight tonight and the 42-year-old is believed to have turned down the offer of a lesser role at the club. One of the main reasons for Giggs wanting to leave if to pursue a managerial career - something he hasn’t been able to do at United.
With Mourinho bringing in his trusted right-hand man - Rui Faria - Giggs had no chance of remaining on in the role he held for two years, as assistant manager.
