Sergio Aguero will fire Manchester City to Champions League final, insists Manuel Pellegrini
“I always say the big games are always decided by the best technical players - we have Sergio and I'm sure we will see him have a good performance,” the Chilean said
Manuel Pellegrini has backed Sergio Aguero to produce his best on Wednesday night and fire Manchester City into the Champions League final.
City take on Real Madrid, with star striker Aguero having scored just twice in Europe this term and having failed to get a shot on target in his last four Champions League games.
But Pellegrini says Aguero - who he has hailed as one of Europe's finest players - will deliver when it matters to send City into the final at the expense of the Spanish giants.
“I always say the big games are always decided by the best technical players,” saidPellegrini.
“We have Sergio and I'm sure we will see him have a good performance.”
Pellegrini also warned his players not to focus too much on Real star man Cristiano Ronaldo, who returns tonight having missed the first leg through injury.
“Cristiano will always be a different player,” said the City boss. “He scores a lot of goals and has throughout his six years here.
“But I don’t think Real are just Ronaldo. We must work as a team defending and attacking. Not just against Ronaldo, but against Real Madrid.

“Our motivation must be to reach a final, which we've never done before, against a great team in a beautiful stadium.
“It’s important tomorrow because it’s high pressure but we have the personality and the football to beat them.
“Everyone must trust in their team – we trust in ours and I hope we can demonstrate it in the 90 minutes.”
Yaya Toure is fit to face Real Madrid in Wednesday night's Champions League semi-final second leg according to Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini.
The Ivory Coast star's participation in the key clash had been under question as he has recently been struggling with a thigh problem.
The midfielder sat out last week's first leg and was not named in the squad for the Barclays Premier Leaguer defeat at Southampton either. Now, however, he looks set to hand City a boost.

Chelsea star Eden Hazard targetsanotherBlues title next season
Eden Hazard has said he hopes Chelsea can challenge for the Premier League title next season after scoring the decisive goal in the title race for the second successive year.
Hazard's late equaliser in Monday's 2-2 draw with Tottenham ensured the title for Leicester City.
His goal against Crystal Palace on May 3, 2015 had earned Chelsea the title almost a year to the day beforehand
"It's something beautiful for the world of football when a smaller team does something like that," Hazard told Chelsea's official website after his strike meant Spurs could no longer catch Leicester.
"It's been a complicated season for Chelsea and for me. It hasn't been like last season, but we have three matches left and we want to finish well by winning all three.
"Next season I hope we can have a better season and get the title back."
Spurs needed to end their 26-year wait for a victory at Chelsea to have any hope of overhauling the Foxes and were 2-0 ahead at half-time through goals from Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
But Gary Cahill netted soon after the break before Hazard, who a week earlier had said he hoped Spurs would not win the title, struck.
Hazard added: "We know Tottenham haven't won at Stamford Bridge for many years so it's good for us the players, and for the fans too. We know how important it is for them that we win derby games, or at least don't lose them."
Chelsea captain John Terry hailed Leicester and said: "Congratulations Leicester City, all their players and Claudio Ranieri, who fully deserve the league title this year."
