Man Utd Transfer News: Fergie orders £30m Prem raid, Van Gaal bombshell, De Gea not wanted
The France midfielder has emerged as a major target for United as they look to revamp that department.
United director and former manager Sir Alex Ferguson recently said: “Kante is by far the best player in the Premier League season.”
The 25-year-old was an £8m signing from Caen but his form with the Foxes this term has rocketed him into the £30m class.
There has been intense speculation that Van Gaal would be replaced by Jose Mourinho once the season comes to an end.
But in his most-revealing interview of the season, the United boss said: “Of course I knew how hard this job would be. That is why they hired me and we have spoken about that.
“Also, we have a process of three years. I wanted to sign for two years, they wanted three years – not me.
I signed for three years, so next year you see me again.”
When asked if he sees the transfer saga sparking again, Van der Sar said: "No, De Gea plays for Manchester United.
"I think Real Madrid already have a very good keeper in Keylor Navas, he is also a very strong keeper and he’s been important to the club.
"That’s the situation at the moment."
