Claudio Ranieri has revealed
that he will not be watching Tottenham Hotspur’s crunch Premier League
clash with Chelsea on Monday night.
Ranieri’s Leicester City were held to a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford this afternoon as the Foxes’ title party was put on hold thanks to Anthony Martial’s first-half strike.
One hand remains firmly on the trophy but second-placed Spurs could breathe life back into their title bid tomorrow evening at Stamford Bridge, which they travel to hoping for all three points to lift them to within five of Leicester.
Ranieri will be praying for a favour from his former employers as
Leicester will be officially crowned champions if Spurs drop points, but
the Italian has revealed that he won’t be watching the match himself.
He told Sky Sports that he would like to take the game in but that he likely won’t be able to as he’ll be travelling back from Italy at 36,000 feet without access to a TV.
It will be a nervy journey for Ranieri who will be glued to his phone screen as soon as his flight touches down, with Leicester’s champion status potentially finally confirmed by the time he’s back in England.
Tottenham sit eight points behind with a game in hand but haven’t won away against Chelsea since all the way back in 1990 as history also seems to be sitting in favour of a perfect end to Leicester’s fairytale journey.

Real Madrid's Cristiano
Ronaldo could be fit to face Manchester City in the second leg of their
Champions League semi-final after taking part in training on Sunday.
The prolific Portugal international had to sit out Tuesday's first-leg 0-0 draw at the Etihad Stadium due to the hamstring injury which has kept him on the sidelines since April 20.However, Real's official website reports that the 31-year-old joined his team-mates for the first half of Sunday's training session before working out alone on the pitch.

Manchester United's Wayne Rooney "disappointed not to win"
Wayne Rooney
has admitted that he was "disappointed" by his side's failure to
collect maximum points from their home encounter against champions elect
Leicester City this afternoon.
Anthony Martial put the hosting Red Devils in front early on, but they were soon pegged back by Leicester skipper Wes Morgan.
However, Rooney has insisted that United's display was worthy of more than a 1-1 draw.
"We're disappointed not to win. We played some good stuff and I felt we were the better team," the captain told MUTV.
Next up for United is a trip to relegation-threatened Norwich City.
