Blind: Mourinho to Man Utd? I want Van Gaal to stay!

The 26-year-old says he hopes his compatriot remains in charge of the Red Devils as speculation mounts he is set to be replaced by the former Chelsea boss this summer
Daley Blind is hopeful Louis van Gaal will remain Manchester United manager as speculation
mounts that the Dutchman is set to be replaced by Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

Widespread reports claim that Mourinho is being lined up to succeed Van Gaal, who guided the Red Devils to their first FA Cup in 12 years less than 24 hours ago against Crystal Palace at Wembley.

Despite leading United to their first piece of silverware in three years, Van Gaal has overseen a largely disappointing campaign which included missing out on Champions League qualification with a fifth-place Premier League finish.

However Blind, who was brought to United from Ajax in 2014 by Van Gaal, has revealed he wants his compatriot to remain in charge at Old Trafford

Speaking after helping United win the FA Cup on Saturday, Blind said: “The manager was very happy afterwards, like everybody else. It is the first time I have heard that Jose Mourinho will take over.

“I just hope that the manager stays.”

Sky Sports understand that Van Gaal told a reporter that it is “over” when asked about his tenure at United when leaving the team hotel on Sunday.
