Paul Scholes delivers a scathing verdict of Manchester United's display in their 3-1 defeat at Watford

Paul Scholes has claimed that Marcus Rashford’s performance was the only positive aspect for Manchester United after their 3-1 loss to Watford on Sunday afternoon at Vicarage Road.

The Red Devils produced an uninspiring performance as they slipped to their third successive loss in all competitions under new manager Jose Mourinho.
The home side took the lead when Etienne Capoue converted Daryl Janmaat’s cut-back in the 34th minute, before Marcus Rashford equalised from close range in the 62nd minute at Vicarage Road.
However, United fell behind once again when Juan Zuniga powered home, before Troy Deeney’s late penalty made the win secure for the home side.
Former United midfielder Scholes was clearly unimpressed by the Red Devils’ display at Vicarage Road and says Rashford’s display was the only positive for the visitors.

Speaking on BT Sport after the final whistle, Scholes said: “The quality on the ball was as poor as you will see from a Manchester United team. That’s just the way it is at the minute. You’re not sure what you’re going to get.
“Rashford is the only shining light. In possession, United were really, really poor.”

The win left United with nine points from their opening five Premier League games and with two defeats in the top flight this season under new boss Mourinho.
